Due to the overwhelming response in 2022, and the traffic gridlock, many families were not afforded the opportunity to honor their loved one by placing a wreath.  Accordingly, for 2024, the event will be conducted over a two-day period.  Families with family members interred at Georgia National Cemetery are invited to place one wreath at their family members gravesite on Friday, December 13, 2024 at 3:30pm.  Council members will be present to assist families in obtaining a wreath.  The 2024 Wreaths Across America Public Wreath Laying will take place starting at 9:00 am Saturday, December 14, 2023.  The 2024 Wreaths Across America Ceremony will take place at the Assembly Area at the Cemetery.  The program will commence immediately after all wreaths have been laid.  The Georgia National Cemetery Staff and the Advisory Council are working on measures to reduce if not eliminate the traffic issues encountered in 2022.  Additional parking with shuttle service has been arranged at Sutallee Baptist Church, 895 Knox Bridge Hwy, Rt 20, about 5 miles west of the cemetery.

The Wreaths Across America Foundation is an organization which encourages Wreaths Across America wreath-laying ceremonies at more than 2,100 locations across the United States, at sea and abroad. Every December, Georgia National Cemetery Advisory Council (GNCAC) participates in this initiative to remember and honor veterans and families interred at Georgia National Cemetery. GNCAC coordinates the event, handles all local logistics, and hosts an annual ceremony.
