About the Georgia National Cemetery Advisory Council
MISSION: To support our troops and families through the dignity of a proper burial and resting place.
The Georgia National Cemetery Advisory Council (GNCAC) is a group of members, made up of various Veterans Service Organizations such as the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. We provide insight to the Department of Veterans Affairs cemetery director, who in-turn runs the burials and day-to-day maintenance in the cemetery. Our role runs the gamut of volunteer jobs, to include organizing the Memorial Day ceremony in May, and the Wreath’s Across America ceremony in December. Additionally, many of our members volunteer at the Public Information Center located at the front of the cemetery. These volunteers greet the grieving families and help the arriving funeral directors as needed.
